Today is my last day in Ohio before traveling back to Georgia, so it was time for me to pack up my bug collecting equipment. I went to check on my variegated fritillary chrysalis one last time.

I opened the habitat and noticed the chrysalis looked different. I touched the chrysalis and it felt empty! Then I saw it! A butterfly fluttering around on the rocks! I couldn’t believe it! My mom and dad were so amazed!

We placed the butterfly in a new container so he could stretch out his new wings. I can’t believe such a big beautiful creature came from such a tiny chrysalis.

Later that afternoon, Grandpa Ron came back over to say goodbye. He got to see me release the new butterfly into the world.
