While I was outside exploring nature this week, I came across a fallen leaf with the pupa of an Asian Ladybeetle on it! I couldn’t believe my eyes!

I ran inside and showed my mom. We put the pupa under a microscope and saw how it was attached to the leaf.

Then we went to Youtube and watched a video about the life cycle of an Asian Ladybeetle, so we knew that it should hatch within a week.

We put the leaf with the pupa in one of my bug containers. Then we waited.

I checked every morning before school. Nothing happened.

Until one day, my mom walked by and saw a bit of movement. She called me over right away and I inspected the container. The ladybeetle had emerged!

We were so excited to see the transformation. After a few pictures, we released “Larry” to the world.
